Exciting News! We're Moving to the Magic League App!
As many of you already know, we’re making the big move to the Magic League App (this is a web app - see more below), and we couldn’t be more excited! This change is going to bring so many improvements to how our leagues run, making things smoother, more efficient, and easier for everyone involved.
We completely understand that change can sometimes be challenging. It’s natural to feel hesitant when something new is introduced, and we know that there may be some teething issues along the way. But we want to assure you that overall, this move will benefit everyone – players, captains, umpires, and coordinators alike. We’re here to support you every step of the way and appreciate your patience and feedback during this transition.
Who We Are
For those who don’t know, Totally Netball is run by just two people – Janice & Brett, a mother and son duo! We may be a small team, but we are incredibly passionate about netball and committed to providing the best experience possible for all our players. Every decision we make is about improving the leagues, making them more fun, fair, and accessible. This new app is a big step in that direction, helping us streamline everything and ensure a better experience for everyone involved.
Why the Change?
Previously, we relied on Google Sheets, but we were running into several challenges:
Restrictions & Limitations – Google Sheets was becoming increasingly restrictive, making it harder for us to manage the leagues efficiently.
Scattered Databases – Our data was spread across different platforms, making coordination more complex.
Too Much Manual Work – A lot of our processes, like updating league tables and fixtures, were done manually, which sometimes led to errors.
Seasonal Issues – Our old system meant that some smaller leagues ended up playing each other four or five times per season, which wasn’t ideal.
Difficult Team Sheets – Captains and coordinators found the previous method of handling team sheets cumbersome.
Slow Website – Pulling data from multiple sources made the website slow and inefficient.
What’s New with the Magic League App?
With this move, all these issues will be resolved, and we’re introducing some fantastic new features!
Easy Team Sheets – The app is mobile-friendly, meaning captains can quickly access and update team sheets on the go.
All-in-One CRM System – All players, umpires, and coordinators will now be managed in one place, making communication and administration so much easier.
Automated Processes – Most of our back-end work will now be automated, reducing the risk of errors and saving time.
League-Specific Seasons – Seasons will now run per league instead of following a global schedule, preventing repetitive matchups. Exclusion dates will still be in place and clearly communicated.
Improved Functionality – The app enhances user experience for captains, players, umpires, and coordinators alike.
Up-to-Date Website – Fixtures, results, and tables will now be seamlessly updated via the Magic League App.
Easier Membership Management – Players can now manage their own membership directly in the app. No more emailing us to request changes—everything can be done within your account, giving you full control and making things much simpler!
What Else is Changing?
Alongside the new app, we’re also making some other improvements to help with the transition:
Membership Guidance – We will be reaching out to all members about how to manage their memberships in the new system.
Ongoing Development – We work closely with the app developers, so while there may be teething issues at first, we’ll be able to resolve them quickly. Plus, we already have exciting new developments in the pipeline!
Bitesize Instructions – We’re sending out quick and easy-to-follow instructions in captains’ chats to help everyone get started.
Knowledge Base – We’ll be launching a resource where players, umpires, and captains can access detailed guides on using the app.
Fixture Updates – Fixtures for the new league-based seasons will be communicated over the next two weeks.
We know that learning something new takes time, and there might be a few bumps along the way. But please know that we are committed to making this transition as seamless as possible for everyone. Your feedback is incredibly valuable, and we are here to listen and adapt as needed. If you encounter any difficulties, please don’t hesitate to reach out for support!

Important: The Magic League App is a Web App

How to Add to Your Home Screen:
For iPhone (Safari Browser):
Open the Magic League App in Safari.
Tap the Share button (square with an arrow pointing up).
Scroll down and select Add to Home Screen.
Rename if needed and tap Add.
The app icon will now appear on your home screen!
For Android (Chrome Browser):
Open the Magic League App in Chrome.
Tap the three-dot menu in the top-right corner.
Select Add to Home Screen.
Rename if needed and tap Add.
The app icon will now be on your home screen for quick access!
If you have any questions about setting this up, feel free to reach out!
See you on the court (and on the app)!
